I was born in Rawal Pindi, Pakistan. My parents migrated to the United States in the late 80's. My early years were spent on Boston University Campus, where my parents were residing and studying at the time. The street we lived on was called 'Buswell Street'. The dorm, a six story building made up one and two bedroom apartments, was occupied mostly by South Asian and Asian students with families. The building was unknowingly, yet endearingly, nicknamed 'Buswell', the place of my childhood memories and where many long lasting friendships were born.

In my late High School years, I sparked an interest in writing rap songs. Inspired by Tupac Shakur, most of my early work tried to touch on social problems as well as personal struggle. Using a home-made PC, a basic Mic, and illegally downloaded software, my best friend and I recorded our first album and named it Future Hope. The name was symbolic of our hopes of making it big in the music industry. Soon after, I enrolled in the University of Massachusetts Amherst for my undergraduate studies. It was during those years, that I discovered the art of spoken word poetry. I remember riding in a friends car who played a CD of now renowned poet and artist, Amir Sulaiman. The depth of soul in his verses and the style of delivery, to me, was masterful. Inspired from that point on, I have written and performed my own spoken word poetry at several Universities/Colleges in Massachusetts.

I graduated with a degree in Finance and subsequently worked for an insurance firm for three years. My time there can be summed up as a big blow to my creativity as well as a personal slump. It was in my third year that I broke free from my own self-made chains and decided to pursue a career in education. As a middle school history teacher, I would enjoy working with the youth and with history as the subject matter, I would not lose interest. With my goal set and my new self awaiting me, I continue to journey towards my aspiration. As I have taken steps towards my dreams, my creative energies have been rekindled. The result is an upcoming Spoken Word Album and the trasnformation of my art into a profession. I hope you find inspiration and enjoyment in my work. Stay tuned for more...
